MAPP Gas Defect Legal Help

DANGER: BERNZOMATIC AND OTHER BRAND MAPP GAS CYLINDERS MAY BREAK AT THE “NECK” JOINT, CAUSING EXPLOSIONS, SEVERE BURNS, AND POSSIBLY DEATH

MAPP Gas Explosions – Not an Accident

Rupture at the "neck" of the canister

MAPP gas, otherwise known as methylacetylene-propadiene propane, is widely used as a generic name for UN 1060 stabilized methylacetylene-propadiene. Burning at up to 3500°F, MAPP gas is used for heating, soldering, brazing and welding.

MAPP gas has been made available to consumers in a defective canister that is prone to catastrophic failure at the neck–causing life changing burns and, in some cases, death. Those harmed or the families of those killed by this product deserve compensation for the associated physical, financial and emotional burdens.

Recall is too Late for Victims

Worthington Industries and Western Industries, the manufacturers of the product, are aware of the defects, but did not issue a recall until January 2012, after dozens of people had been injured or killed by the product.

The Resources to Help Victims of Mapp Explosions

Our firm has spent hundreds of hours meeting with engineers, scientists, and medical doctors gathering evidence in order to prove the canister defect exists. We know what the problem is, and we know how to prove it.

In all of the cases our firm has investigated, the MAPP Gas cylinder failed with either very little force or no force at all. The failures were sudden, and without any warning.  The failures occur at the neck, and the torch attachment is commonly bent off-center by the force of the escaping gas. Many cases involve users who have significant experience with the use of torches, and almost all instances of this failure result in severe, life-changing injuries.
